As Manager of Environmental Affairs, Kala is responsible for project-level compliance of environmental laws and regulations. She utilizes her expertise in natural resource management, environmental policy, multi-level permitting, community outreach, and construction practices to support the siting, development, construction, and operation of ConnectGen’s renewable projects.
Previously, Kala was the Permitting Manager at Recurrent Energy, where she provided permitting and environmental oversight for utility scale solar and battery storage projects from the siting phase through the construction and operational phase. Prior to joining Recurrent Energy, Kala was an Environmental Engineer for both a mining company and a heavy civil engineering and construction company where she led construction and industrial environmental programs. Kala holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and a M.A. from Texas State University in Geography and Environmental Science.
