Project Development Engineer

ConnectGen is seeking a Project Development Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. The Project Development Engineer plays a key role as technical advisor to the project development team and is responsible for technical deliverables required for the development of wind, solar and energy storage projects in the U.S. This includes but is not limited to preliminary site designs, resource assessment and production estimates, construction cost estimates, and preliminary engineering to support permitting and interconnection. The Engineer also supports evaluation and procurement of major equipment and contractors, participates in the due diligence of potential project acquisitions, and identifies innovative approaches to optimize levelized cost of energy.


  • Provide technical deliverables to support the development of wind, solar and energy storage projects, including but not limited to
    • Preliminary project site designs
    • Resource assessment strategy and production estimates
    • Technical input to project schedules
    • Project cost estimates
    • Preliminary engineering to support permitting, interconnection and procurement
  • Participate in project acquisition due diligence by providing technical review and recommendations
  • Serve as technical resource for project development team, developing solutions and handling technical challenges that arise during various phases of the project
  • Participate in the development of major equipment specifications and contracts, and procurement of major equipment and contractors
  • Evaluate technologies and manufacturers for capital and operational efficiencies. Research equipment forward price curves
  • Develop innovative tools and approaches to optimize levelized cost of energy
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Keen, demonstrated interest in renewable energy
  • Strong technical expertise and ability to provide sound technical guidance
  • Ability to work in a project-type environment with tight deadlines and concurrent deliverables
  • Ability to learn, understand and communicate technical issues effectively to lay audiences
  • Ability to effectively manage contractors and consultants to achieve deadlines on budget
  • Ability to review technical designs, reports and documentation, and provide analysis
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required


  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent) preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in renewable energy, or related field
  • Experience managing contractors and consultants
  • Experience in engineering and/or construction of renewable energy facilities a plus
  • Experience working with suppliers of major equipment a plus
